Connor won the district Solo and Ensemble competition with this performance of the Trumpet Sonata by Hindemith. He'll be off to State in April so still plenty of work ahead of him. Still, the sigh of relief at the end of this piece is priceless. I thought he might even go purple about half way through but managed to stop at just a deep shade of red...
Not to be outdone Caitlin also put in a very well received performance of "Here Amid the Shady Woods" by G.F. Handel. I love her smile at the end.
It was a wonderful day for both of them. Erin and I were bursting with pride.

Connor at Solo and Ensemble
Connor's performance was good enough for 1st alternate for State. He was really pleased and so were we. If interested you can compare it to his performance last November to get an idea of the progress he made in 3 months
Caitlin's Solo
This is Caitlin's debut public performance. Although she was clearly nervous and didn't get enough breath at times, the judge said she has the 'voice of an angel' and it's a rarity 'to hear such pure high tones'. Lots of solid ground to build on in the future...
